Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is a diagnostic and operational method, when an optical sound is implemented into the uterus through the vaginal access, cervical and cervix. The method enables projection of the finding, evaluation and collection of a sample of the endometrium for histology. The operational hysteroscopy enables (by using special electroresection instruments) removal of musocal polyps, muscle knots, intra-uterus adhesions or development abnormalities as septum, which reduces the possibility of pregnancy.

Hysteroscopy became a basic diagnostic method used mainly for determining reasons of irregular cycle and intra-uterus abnormalities. The method is applied also before removing the uterus to exclude the possibility of cancerous changes on the endometrium. Hysteroscopy is performed under general anaesthesia with a short recovery period.
